The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has arrested a man, Md Sakib Al Hasan, 27, with yaba tablets in an anti-drug operation in Gangni, Meherpur.
He was arrested in a raid in the Terail area of Gangni police station at about 1.45pm on Sunday (September 20).
Sakib is the son of Md Saiful Islam of Olinagar village in Gangni police station.
A press release from SRB-12 Meherpur said an operational team of CPC-3 carried out an anti-drug raid in the Terail area on the commanding officer’s instructions. Sakib was arrested there with 80 yaba tablets.
The press release also said initial questioning produced information that Sakib had been involved in the drug trade for a long time. A case has been filed against him under the narcotics control act over the incident.
The acting company commander of SRB-12, CPC-3, Meherpur, and assistant superintendent of police, Hannan Howlader, gave the information in a press release at about 3.30pm on Sunday.
