The government has issued the notification on new pay and allowances for government officials and employees. The Finance Division issued the notification on Saturday. Published under the title Services (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026, the notification separately fixes what the basic pay will be for the cabinet secretary, the principal secretary, senior secretaries and officials of equivalent rank, alongside other officials and employees.
Under the new pay structure, government employees’ starting basic pay has been raised by between 100 and 142 percent depending on the grade. Basic pay in grades 1 to 11 has been raised by 100 percent, while the rate of increase from grade 12 to grade 20 is between 115 and 142 percent.
The notification says pay for the cabinet secretary, the prime minister’s principal secretary and posts of equivalent rank will be 172,000 taka, which is a fixed basic pay. Until now their basic pay was 86,000 taka. Pay for senior secretaries and posts of equivalent rank will be 164,000 taka; until now they received 82,000 taka.
Starting basic pay in grade 1, meanwhile, rises from 78,000 taka to 156,000 taka; in grade 2 from 66,000 to 132,000 taka; in grade 3 from 56,500 taka to 113,000 taka; and in grade 4 from 50,000 taka to 100,000 taka.
Pay has been fixed in this way across all 20 grades under the new structure. Grade 5 rises from 43,000 to 86,000 taka; grade 6 from 35,500 taka to 71,000 taka; grade 7 from 29,000 taka to 58,000 taka; grade 8 from 23,000 to 46,000 taka; grade 9 from 22,000 taka to 44,000 taka; and grade 10 from 16,000 to 32,000 taka.
Starting basic pay in grade 11 has doubled from 12,500 taka to 25,000 taka. Grade 12 rises from 11,300 to 24,300 taka; grade 13 from 11,000 taka to 24,000 taka; grade 14 from 10,200 taka to 23,500 taka; and grade 15 from 9,700 to 22,800 taka. Grade 16 goes from 9,300 to 21,900 taka, grade 17 from 9,000 taka to 21,400 taka, grade 18 from 8,800 to 21,000 taka, grade 19 from 8,500 to 20,500 taka and grade 20 from 8,250 to 20,000 taka.
