Habibe Jannat Mohila Etimkhana, in Sherpur’s Nakla upazila, is working to provide Islamic education to orphaned and destitute girls while guiding them toward humane values and self-reliance.

A recent visit to the institution took stock of the students’ studies, housing, food, and overall environment. The institution’s chairman, Alhaj Md Moniruzzaman, said its primary goal is to educate orphaned and destitute girls in a safe, peaceful environment, through the Nurani, Nazera, Hifz, and Kitab sections up to the Mishkat level, while raising them to be self-reliant.

According to the institution, roughly 300 girls, including 45 orphans and 53 destitute students, currently study at Habibe Jannat Mohila Etimkhana. Efforts are being made to provide them with the education, housing, and other facilities they need.

A recent nor’wester and hailstorm, however, damaged one of the institution’s buildings. Construction to repair the damaged building is currently under way. Those involved with the institution have appealed to affluent and compassionate members of society for support to keep its operations running smoothly in the meantime.

They said support from capable members of society is essential to educate orphaned and destitute girls in a safe environment and help them become self-reliant. With everyone’s cooperation, they said, the institution’s educational and humanitarian work could be expanded further.
