Expulsions more than doubled on the second day of the HSC and equivalent examinations, with 17 students removed for using unfair means nationwide on Saturday, compared to seven on the first day, the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee said.
A total of 27,327 students were absent across all boards on Saturday. The nine general education boards held the Bengali second paper exam, the madrasa board held Arabic first paper (general division) and Arabic literature (science and mujabbid mahir divisions), and the technical education board held English-2.
Of the 17 expulsions, seven were from the nine general education boards — one each from Rajshahi, Dinajpur, and Mymensingh, and two each from Comilla and Barisal. No expulsions were reported from the Dhaka, Jessore, Chittagong, or Sylhet boards.
Across the nine general education boards, 841,125 of 860,764 registered candidates appeared for the Bengali second paper, leaving 19,639 absent.
The madrasa board saw 79,091 of 84,293 candidates appear, with 5,202 absent and seven expelled. The technical education board had 83,263 of 85,749 candidates present, with 2,486 absent and three expelled.
