Israeli forces have fired on a civilian settlement in a village in Syria’s southern Daraa province.
The gunfire came from Israeli-controlled territory in southern Syria, the country’s state media reported.
Syrian state television Al-Ikhbariya reported that gunfire targeted civilian homes in parts of the village of Mariyah, in rural Daraa province.
The sound of gunfire and the attack forced some village residents to flee their homes for other locations. No casualties were immediately reported from the incident.
Israeli forces have been carrying out incursions and attacks in southern Syria for several months, including raids, searches, and arrests. These Israeli operations have intensified since the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024.
Following Assad’s fall, Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void and took control of Syria’s buffer zone, or security perimeter.
Since then, various Israeli military operations and attacks have continued in southern Syria.
