Jordan’s air defense system intercepted and shot down eight missiles fired from Iran on Thursday (July 9), the country’s armed forces said.

A military source from the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said the interception operation scattered missile debris across several areas.

The source said no casualties or material damage were reported. The armed forces are closely monitoring the regional situation and remain on maximum alert to protect Jordanian airspace.

The incident occurred for a second consecutive day amid escalating military conflict between Iran and the United States.

Iranian state media earlier reported that Tehran had carried out drone strikes targeting U.S. military infrastructure in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. Meanwhile, Bahraini authorities sounded warning sirens and announced they had intercepted aerial threats.
