Four films in talks — is Apurba becoming a regular on the big screen?

Between his busy television schedule, OTT projects and trips to the United States, Ziaul Faruq Apurba’s acting career keeps him occupied on multiple fronts. But the actor is now also thinking afresh about the big screen. He has signaled he wants to become a regular presence in films after a long gap, and is already in talks with directors and producers about four films.

Apurba’s film journey has not been especially long. After making his film debut in 2015 with “Gangster Returns,” he stayed away from the big screen for nearly a decade. He returned to film in 2024 with Tollywood’s “Chalchitra.” This time, he does not want that gap to stretch on. None of the four films under discussion have been finalized yet, however.

Apurba is cautious on the subject. “Nothing has been finalized yet,” he said. “All I can say is that talks are under way on four films at once. Often, even after filming starts, a project ultimately doesn’t happen. That’s why I don’t want to say anything in advance. If a film doesn’t happen later for some reason, it damages audience trust. When I know for certain it’s happening, I’ll announce it to everyone formally.”

Meanwhile, since returning home, Apurba has been busy with television drama work. He is currently filming a drama directed by Masrikul Alam, co-starring Sharlin Farzana. The pair are appearing together on the small screen again after a gap of six years.

Apurba isn’t stopping after this one drama. He will take part in the filming of seven more dramas in succession, directed by Zakaria Soukhin, Syed Shakil, Mursalin Shuvo, Mahmudur Rahman Himi and Rubel Hasan. Once this busy stretch is over, he is expected to travel to the United States again. He will return home toward the end of the year to work on Eid OTT content and television dramas.

Beyond acting, Apurba has also recently reintroduced himself to audiences through music. On August 8, he spent nearly two hours with the audience at “Apurba Musical Night,” held at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in New York. Alongside performing songs, the actor kept the event lively with storytelling.

The success of that New York event has now opened the door to new opportunities. Apurba has received offers to take part in concerts in 12 U.S. cities. He does not plan to accept all the offers at once, however, and wants to take his time preparing before deciding on future concerts.

As a result, Apurba’s schedule ahead will not be centered on television dramas alone. Between new film work, OTT, television and concerts, the actor is planning to expand his presence across every medium.
