Bangladesh adds 3,736 teachers to monthly pay roll

DHAKA — Bangladesh’s Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has decided to add 3,736 newly recruited private school and college staff to the government’s monthly pay order, known as MPO, officials said.

Of those, 2,821 are school employees and 915 are college teachers. The committee also approved B.Ed. pay scale for 656 staff and higher pay scales for 2,001 others.

The decisions were made Saturday at a meeting of the directorate’s monthly MPO committee for March. Director General Prof. Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel chaired the meeting in his official capacity. Officials from the Education Ministry and nine regional directors and deputy directors of the directorate attended.

Among the 2,821 school teachers and staff, 282 are from Barishal region, 297 from Chattogram, 240 from Cumilla, 367 from Dhaka, 399 from Khulna, 280 from Mymensingh, 463 from Rajshahi, 1,383 from Rangpur and 110 from Sylhet, officials who attended the meeting told Dainik Amader Barta.

Of the 915 college teachers and staff, 68 are from Barishal, 36 from Chattogram, 72 from Cumilla, 91 from Dhaka, 151 from Khulna, 68 from Mymensingh, 169 from Rajshahi, 229 from Rangpur and 31 from Sylhet.
