Gold prices have risen again in the domestic market. The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has set new prices, raising the cost by as much as 1,633 taka per bhori. Under the new prices, buying one bhori of 22-karat gold jewelry — the best-quality tier — will now cost customers 247,743 taka.
The new gold prices took effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday.
In a notice, BAJUS said the decision to raise prices was made at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The retail price includes VAT added to the set price.
Under the new price list, one bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-karat gold jewelry is selling for 247,743 taka as of Tuesday, up from 246,110 taka through Monday.
Prices for other grades of gold have also risen. Under the new rates, 21-karat gold is priced at 236,604 taka per bhori. 18-karat gold is now selling for 203,187 taka per bhori, while traditional-grade gold is now priced at 165,920 taka per bhori.
Despite the upward trend in gold prices, silver prices have been left unchanged. Under the new list, 22-karat silver remains priced at 5,482 taka per bhori. 21-karat silver is priced at 5,249 taka per bhori, 18-karat at 4,491 taka per bhori, and traditional-grade silver is selling at 3,383 taka per bhori.
