Over the continuing protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), 18 metro stations in the Indian capital, Delhi, were again temporarily shut on Friday. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed this.
The DMRC said 17 stations were first closed from 7:30 a.m. on Friday. A few hours later the New Delhi metro station was also closed, bringing the total number of closed stations to 18.
The stations closed are New Delhi, Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Tirth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jorbagh, Shivaji Stadium and Jhandewalan.
This is the fourth day running that multiple metro stations have been shut in Delhi. The DMRC said the measure was taken in the interest of security over the CJP protest continuing near Jantar Mantar.
