Schools told to mark 5 August with essay, recitation and art contests

All educational institutions have been asked to hold essay, recitation and art competitions, and discussions highlighting their significance, to mark July Uprising Day on 5 August. Those concerned have been asked to take the necessary steps.

The information came in a letter from the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the education ministry on Monday (3 August). The letter was sent to the chairman of the University Grants Commission and the director-general of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education.

It said that, in line with a letter from the Liberation War Affairs Ministry, institutions were requested, on instruction, to take the necessary steps to hold essay, recitation and art competitions and discussions highlighting their significance to mark “July Uprising Day 2026” on 5 August.
