Forty-one districts across the country are experiencing intense heat. In such conditions, there is no relief anywhere.

Life is sweltering in the heat, and amid such conditions the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has brought bad news. The department said the heatwave may continue in the districts over which it is currently sweeping.

The information was given in a forecast for the 24 hours from 9 a.m. Wednesday.

It said a mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Narayanganj, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Lakshmipur, Barishal, Patuakhali and Bhola districts, as well as over the Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions, and it may continue.

Apart from this, day and night temperatures across the country may remain nearly unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said a storm with winds of up to 60 km per hour may occur in four districts of the country by evening. The department warned the river ports in the areas concerned.

The information was given in a forecast issued for the country’s inland river ports for the period from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

It said temporary gusts or squalls of 45 to 60 km per hour from the west or northwest, accompanied by rain or thundershowers, may occur over the Rangpur, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet regions. River ports in these areas have been asked to hoist warning signal No. 1.
