The government has withdrawn the order cancelling the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Moghbazar in the capital. The hospital has at the same time been allowed to run its activities subject to three conditions.

A notification to that effect was issued on Monday, 27 July, by the private health management-2 branch of the health services division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It was signed by the health services division secretary, Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury.

The notification said an instruction issued by the office of the director general of the Directorate General of Health Services on 19 July had asked the inquiry committee formed over the matters raised against the hospital to report within three working days. As the inquiry committee’s report was considered satisfactory and on the basis of the fulfilment of the set conditions, the order cancelling the licence has been withdrawn and the hospital allowed to run its activities.

The notification also set out several conditions for the hospital. They include properly complying with the provisions of The Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982. The process of appointing doctors and nurses must also be completed quickly in accordance with the conditions of the licence.

It added that if the set conditions are not met, the government or the empowered authority will take the necessary legal action.

The Directorate General of Health Services had issued an instruction on 19 July cancelling the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital. After reviewing the inquiry report it has stepped back from that decision and restored the hospital’s licence.
