Squalls of up to 60 km/h could sweep over 18 regions of the country including Dhaka, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said. River ports in those regions have been asked to hoist cautionary signal No. 1.
This was stated in a forecast for the country’s inland river ports, valid from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday (June 16).
The forecast, signed by meteorologist Md. Abdul Hamid Mia, said: rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds blowing at 45-60 km/h from the east or southeast could sweep over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
