Seven more children die of measles symptoms nationwide

Seven more children died with measles-related symptoms nationwide in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,031 new cases of measles symptoms were newly identified.

The information was disclosed Monday, August 17, in the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular measles situation report.

The bulletin said seven more children died with measles-related symptoms nationwide in the past 24 hours. However, no child died from confirmed measles. This brings the total number of deaths with measles-related symptoms nationwide since March 15 to 816. An additional 99 children have died from confirmed measles. In other words, a total of 915 children have died from measles and measles-related symptoms during this period.

Additionally, 50 children were confirmed with measles in the past 24 hours, while 981 patients showed measles-related symptoms. During this period, 929 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 974 children were discharged.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to date stands at 143,778, with 17,930 confirmed measles cases. Of these, a total of 125,386 patients have been hospitalized, of whom 120,913 have been discharged and have already returned home.
