DHAKA — Four more children died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, and 1,096 new suspected and confirmed cases were detected, the Directorate General of Health Services said Saturday.

The latest update came in the directorate’s regular measles bulletin.

All four deaths in the past day were in Dhaka, the directorate said. That takes the death toll from suspected measles between March 15 and Saturday to 235. Over the same period, 49 children with confirmed measles have also died.

According to the bulletin, 26,911 children with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide between March 15 and Saturday. Of those, 23,225 have recovered and been discharged.

In the past 24 hours, 72 new confirmed measles cases were detected, and 1,024 children showed suspected symptoms. Between March 15 and Saturday, 39,325 children have shown measles symptoms, and 5,218 have been confirmed with the disease.
