Five more children have died after being infected with measles and measles-related symptoms in the country. This brings the total number of measles and measles-related deaths from March 15 this year to date to 648.
The information was given in the latest report published by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday afternoon.
It said no one died of confirmed measles in the 24 hours from 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday. However, five children died of measles symptoms. During this period, measles was confirmed in 63 new patients. At the same time, 763 suspected measles patients were identified.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 92 children have died of confirmed measles from March 15 to date. During the same period, another 556 people died of suspected measles. In all, the number of deaths from measles and measles-related symptoms has risen to 648.
Over the same period, the number of confirmed measles cases in the country has risen to 10,248. The number of suspected cases stands at 84,899.
The report also said that 69,606 people have been hospitalized with measles symptoms since March 15. Of them, 65,852 have recovered and left the hospital after treatment.
