Two children have died of measles or measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, during which 1,085 children were affected, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
The figures came in an updated measles report issued by the DGHS on Friday.
The directorate said two more children had died of measles or its symptoms in the past 24 hours, one of them from confirmed measles.
That brings the total number of children who have died of measles-like symptoms across the country since March 15 to 740, with another 97 children dying of confirmed measles — 837 deaths in all during the period.
In the past 24 hours, 185 children were confirmed with measles and 900 had measles-like symptoms. During the period, 805 children were newly admitted to hospital and 806 were discharged.
According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases from March 15 to Friday stands at 128,310, with 16,059 confirmed cases. Of those, 110,987 patients were admitted to hospital, and 106,859 have already been discharged and returned home.
