DHAKA — Seven more people have died of measles or measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services said. Health authorities recorded 1,654 new cases over the same period.
The directorate said 324 children have died of measles or measles-like symptoms nationwide in the past month and a half. As of Tuesday, 54 deaths had been confirmed as measles, while another 263 had died of measles-like symptoms.
From March 15 of this year through Tuesday, 42,979 children have shown symptoms of measles. Of those, 29,831 were admitted to hospitals, and 26,368 have since recovered and been discharged. Health officials recorded 1,654 new cases on Wednesday.
