Four more children have died of measles symptoms in the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,051 new patients were recorded. The health directorate gave the information in its routine press release on Sunday (19 July).
The report said that in the past 24 hours, four more children had died with measles symptoms, but no child had died of confirmed measles. This takes the total number of children who have died with measles symptoms across the country from 15 March to now to 693, while another 95 children have died of confirmed measles — a total of 788 children dead from measles and measles symptoms in this period. In the past 24 hours, 113 children were confirmed with measles and 938 had measles symptoms — 1,051 new patients in all. In that period, 888 children were newly hospitalised and 992 children were discharged.
According to the health directorate, from 15 March to now the total number of suspected measles patients is 1,17,648 and confirmed measles patients 14,431. Of these, a total of 1,00,137 patients were hospitalised, of whom 96,521 have already returned home after being discharged.
