Two more children die of measles-like symptoms

Two more children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours. In the same period, 946 new children were infected with measles or measles-like symptoms.

The information came in an updated report on measles released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (July 9) afternoon.

The DGHS said that as of 8 a.m. Thursday, two children who died in the preceding 24 hours had measles-like symptoms. However, no death was confirmed to have been directly caused by measles during this period.

According to the report, a total of 747 children have died with measles or measles-like symptoms nationwide since March 15. Of these, 93 died from confirmed measles.

According to DGHS data, 92,031 children with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide so far. Of them, 88,419 have recovered and been discharged.

DGHS statistics show the total number of suspected measles cases nationwide since March 15 has reached 108,998. Of these, 13,198 children have been confirmed to have measles through lab testing.
