The case statement also says that, at one point during the attack, Didarul Islam Babu struck Billal Hossain in the chest with a sharp weapon. He was seriously injured and collapsed. Local people rescued him and took him first to Islami Bank Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors declared him dead at 9:45 p.m. while he was undergoing treatment.
Over the incident, Billal Hossain’s wife, Achia Khatun, filed a murder case at Ramna police station on June 9. The case names 21 people, including Didarul Islam Babu, and another seven or eight unidentified people have been made accused.
