Jamaat-e-Islami’s local member of parliament, Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, has sent a gift to the wedding of Abdullah Al Fahad, president of the Bauphal upazila unit of Chhatra Dal in Patuakhali.
Local Jamaat and affiliated-body leaders and activists delivered the gift on the MP’s behalf at a bou-bhat (wedding reception) held on the field of the Bauphal election office on Monday (June 1) afternoon.
The MP’s delegation was led by Rakibul Islam Nur, former president of the Patuakhali district unit of Chhatra Shibir. He handed the gift to Fahad and wished the newlyweds a happy and prosperous married life.
Accepting the gift, Chhatra Dal leader Fahad expressed sincere gratitude to Shafiqul Islam Masud and his delegation.
Notably, after the 13th national parliamentary election, Fahad had stirred controversy with various negative comments about Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud on social media. His remarks had directly and indirectly angered Jamaat and its affiliated bodies. At such a time, Fahad has come back into the conversation by accepting the gift the MP sent for his wedding — though what was in the gift package was not known.
