The health ministry has announced that NS1 testing for dengue diagnosis will be provided free of charge at government hospitals nationwide through December 31.
The Government Health Management-1 Branch of the Health Services Division under the health ministry issued a notification to this effect last Sunday.
The notification said that, following approval from the Finance Division of the finance ministry, necessary measures must be taken to implement the decision to provide free NS1 testing for dengue diagnosis at government hospitals through December 31 this year.
The notification instructed the Director General of Health Services to take the necessary steps promptly.
Meanwhile, dengue infections have begun rising again with the onset of the monsoon. A total of 7,110 people have been infected with the mosquito-borne disease so far this year, of whom 61.5% are men and 38.5% are women. Nineteen deaths have been recorded this year.
