Opposition leader meets national daily editors

Opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman held a meeting with editors of several national dailies on Monday.

The meeting began at 12:15 p.m. at the opposition leader’s official residence on Minto Road in the capital. Editors who took part included Shafik Rehman, editor of Jai Jai Din and convener of the National Editors’ Council (NEC); Mahmudur Rahman, editor of Amar Desh and joint convener of the NEC; Mahfuz Anam of The Daily Star; Sajjad Sharif, managing editor of Prothom Alo; A.M.M. Bahauddin, editor of Inqilab; Salahuddin Mohammad Babar of Naya Diganta; Dewan Hanif Mahmud of Bonik Barta; Shafiqul Alam of Wadar; Mostafa Kamal of Khaborer Kagoj; Kamrul Hasan of Ajker Patrika; Syed Shah Newaz Karim of Somoyer Alo; Gias Uddin of Banijjo Protidin; Harun Jamil of Dhaka Mail; and Mostafa Kamal Mazumder, along with editors of Daily Evening News, Protidiner Bangladesh, Dainik Ediin and Bhorer Dak, among other newspapers.

Also present at the meeting were Dr Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, deputy leader of the opposition in the national parliament; Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar; and MP Shafiqul Islam Masud.
