A 24-year-old man, Salman Roni Mridha, son of Alamgir Hossain Mridha of Dwitiyakhanda union in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district, went missing while returning from his in-laws’ house to his own home. Nine days have passed and there is still no trace of him, his family said. The two families have been trading accusations.

Salman Roni Mridha has been missing for the past nine days after setting out from his in-laws’ house for his own home in Shibchar, his family said. The case has caused alarm in the area, and the family and local residents have voiced growing suspicions, they said. His wife, parents and other relatives are in deep anxiety over the disappearance.

According to the family, Salman Roni Mridha went to visit his in-laws’ house in the Rajarchar Moulvikandi area of Sannyasirchar union in Shibchar upazila last Monday, June 8. After staying two days, he set out last Wednesday, June 10, for his own home in Dwitiyakhanda. But he did not return home after leaving the in-laws’ house, and a search among relatives and at all possible places turned up no trace of him, the family said.

Finding no sign of his son, the missing man’s father, Alamgir Hossain Mridha, filed a general diary (GD) at Shibchar police station last Friday, June 12.

With nine days gone and still no word of Salman Roni, his family has made an anguished appeal for help, the family said. They have called on the administration to intervene firmly and have appealed for his safe return.

The family asked that anyone with information contact 01609-939332, and said a suitable reward would be given to anyone who helps locate him.

Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shibchar police station, said the missing man’s family had filed a general diary (GD) at the station and that police were making every effort to find him.
