Moving past all the mistakes of the past, the education and primary and mass education minister, Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon, has expressed a firm resolve to give students completely error-free, quality, lively and attractive textbooks in the coming 2027 academic year.
He said this as chief guest at the inaugural event of a “workshop to finalize the framework of four new textbooks” for the primary and secondary levels in the 2027 academic year, at the International Mother Language Institute auditorium on Sunday (July 12) afternoon.
The event, chaired by the chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), Professor Mohammad Fakhrul Maola, had as special guests the state minister for cultural affairs, Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam, the state minister for primary and mass education, Bobby Hajjaj, and the state minister for youth and sports, Md. Aminul Haque.
Also present were the prime minister’s education adviser, Dr. Mahdi Amin, the secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Abdul Khaleq, the secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Kaniz Maola, the secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Division, Md. Daud Miah, and the secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Md. Sakhawat Hossain, along with others connected to education.

He said that, having cleared away the garbage of the past, fully error-free books were being produced this time, and that there would be no compromise on quality printing and paper. The covers and inside pictures of the books must be so lively that they attract young students, he said; the pictures should speak for themselves.
He said stakeholders were being given the chance to examine the four new manuscripts thoroughly before they were finalized. An expert team formed by the state minister for youth and sports would submit a conclusive statement on the sports chapter within the next five working days, and a sub-committee led by the state minister for cultural affairs would submit its opinions within the next five days, after which the manuscripts would receive final approval.
Setting out longer-term plans, the minister said: “We will not sit back once the 2027 work is done. To prepare the revised curriculum for the 2028 academic year, we will start work on the new books from August 1, so that there is enough time in hand and no rush.”
He also said the prime minister personally monitored the development of the education sector at all times, and that they were committed to ensuring an excellent and joyful learning environment for the country’s future generations in implementing the prime minister’s vision.
