Police in Raninagar, Naogaon, arrested two alleged drug dealers in separate drives, seizing 40 litres of locally brewed (Bangla cholai) liquor and 30 Tapentadol tablets, the officer-in-charge said. The two were detained on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday (30 June) morning, they were shown arrested in two separate cases under the Narcotics Control Act and sent to court.
Raninagar Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakaria Mondal said anti-narcotics drives were carried out in various parts of the upazila on Monday night. A man identified as Juwel Josen, 30, was arrested from the Charkanai Dangapara area of Mirat union.
Thirty Tapentadol tablets were recovered from him, and a case was filed against him that night, the OC said.
On Tuesday morning, acting on a tip-off, police raided the Ataikula area and arrested Sharif Uddin, 28, of Turukbaria village in Manda upazila of Naogaon, with 40 litres of Bangla cholai liquor.
According to the OC, Sharif and several others had brought the 40 litres of liquor in plastic jars and were waiting to sell it when he was arrested. Cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against Sharif and several others, who were shown arrested and sent to court.
