Two police officers hurt in cleaver attack during Dhaka raid

Two police officers, including an officer-in-charge and a sub-inspector, were wounded in a cleaver attack by robbers in Dhaka’s Adabar area, police said.

The attack took place on Tuesday (June 16) afternoon during a raid behind the Delta Garments factory.

According to police, a robbery using a cleaver had taken place at a shop in the Adabar area earlier in the morning. Police later raided the robbers’ hideout in the afternoon.

The robbers attacked police during the raid, wounding Adabar police station’s officer-in-charge Jahidul Islam and sub-inspector Tarun with a cleaver, police said. Police fired back to bring the situation under control, leaving one robber with a gunshot wound. Four other people were detained over the incident, police said.
