JASHORE, Sept. 26 — In Jashore, 106 candidates who were finally recommended for assistant teacher posts in primary schools but did not receive appointment letters staged a sit-in in front of the deputy commissioner’s office demanding appointment.

Candidates from different upazilas of the district joined the program, which began at 11 a.m. Saturday.

They said that among 290 finally recommended candidates, 184 received appointment letters but 106 did not.

The candidates alleged that although appointment letters were withheld for various reasons, most of them were excluded for political reasons. When the matter was raised with State Minister Anindya Islam Amit, he assured them he would look into it seriously and discuss it at a law and order meeting.

Those involved said that if the recruitment issue is not resolved, the excluded candidates will gather at the district primary education office Sunday and decide their next program.
