An electricity worker, Mahitosh Mondal, 50, has died after an easy-bike overturned on the Nawapara-Sundali road in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore.
The accident took place in front of Nawapara Koylaghat School at about a quarter to twelve on Thursday morning.
Mahitosh Mondal was the son of the late Binoy Krishna Mondal of Bhatbila village in the upazila. He worked as a switchboard attendant (SBA) at the Pother Bazar electricity sub-station in Phultala upazila of Khulna.
Police said Mahitosh Mondal was going from his home to Nawapara market by easy-bike. When it reached the front of Koylaghat School on the way, the easy-bike lost control and overturned. He was pinned under the easy-bike and seriously injured.
Local people rescued him and took him to Abhaynagar upazila health complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. On receiving the news, Abhaynagar police visited the scene.
The officer in charge of Abhaynagar police station, Md Nuruzzaman, said the easy-bike driver had fled. Efforts to detain him were under way and legal action over the incident was in process.
