Jashore’s Ad-din Children’s Hospital has become an institution people trust. Over the past 22 years, 725,000 children have received low-cost care there — 610,000 as outpatients and 115,000 admitted for treatment.
Many people come for care from various districts of the southwest. The children’s hospital is run under the guidance of the local Ad-din Sakina Medical College Hospital.
Officials said the hospital, which began operating in 2004, has gone beyond commercial thinking to ensure modern, quality healthcare at affordable cost, benefiting the 725,000 children. It has shown remarkable success particularly in treating complex newborn illnesses and malnutrition, with many parents who had failed to find help elsewhere returning home with recovered children.
Rabeya Sultana Laiba, from the Police Lines area of Jashore town, said: “I brought my babies here after not getting good treatment at another Jashore hospital. Here I got good treatment at an affordable cost.”
Another woman, Lutfunnahar Manju, said: “My daughter-in-law had twins. I could not have imagined I would get them. At seven months, one weighed 1.003 kg and the other 1.5 kg. After bringing the babies to Ad-din Hospital, they are now normal.”
Nazim Uddin, from Khedapara in Manirampur upazila, said: “My twin newborns had malnutrition. I stayed admitted at Ad-din Hospital for 18 days. The treatment here is good, and the babies are now healthy.”
Nila Khatun, who came from Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah, said: “My child was turning blue from breathing trouble. With treatment here, he is recovering.” She praised the hospital’s environment and the sincerity of its doctors and nurses.
Senior manager Moshiar Rahman said: “We have added all modern medical technology to maintain our standard of care — seven advanced incubators for low-birth-weight newborns, a round-the-clock in-house pharmacy, a modern pathology lab for accurate reports, and excellent ward and cabin facilities. Reliable, modern care is provided here at low cost for middle- and lower-income families. People leave satisfied — that is our achievement.”
