A housewife, Khadija Akter (25), died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Kalkini upazila, Madaripur.
The incident occurred around 7am on Tuesday (July 7) in the North Kolchari area of Alinagar union in the upazila.
The victim, Khadija Akter, was the daughter of Abdur Razzak Howlader and wife of Zakir Bepari, both of the same area.
Local residents said Khadija had gone to the kitchen around 7am to fetch firewood when a venomous snake hidden among the wood bit her on the hand. She screamed in pain, and her husband and neighbors rushed to help.
Relatives then took the critically injured Khadija to Madaripur 250-Bed District Hospital. After examination, the attending physician declared her dead.
Madaripur 250-Bed District Hospital resident medical officer Akhil Sarkar said Khadija Akter, a housewife, died of a venomous snake bite, having passed away well before reaching the hospital.
