Driver Mahi, 50, was killed after losing control of an Alamsadhu and overturning in Magura. The accident occurred before dawn on Thursday, August 13, at the Bangshatala area near the police lines on the Jhenaidah-Magura highway.
Mahi was the son of Abdul Khalek of Uttar Narayanpur village in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila. His brother-in-law Mohammad Mozammel said Mahi left Dakbangla in Jhenaidah at about 8pm Wednesday carrying produce for Chuadanga and reached Mohammadpur at 1am. He was returning home when the crash occurred; his family learned of it from a police call at dawn.
Ram Nagar Highway police station officer-in-charge Mahbubur Rahman said Mahi had delivered vegetables in Mohammadpur and was returning when the Alamsadhu overturned beside the road at Bangshatala. Fire Service personnel rescued him and took him to Magura 250-bed Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
