Motorcycle rider Ibrahim Hossain, 50, was killed in a head-on collision with a battery-powered van carrying metal grilles in Benapole, Jashore. The motorcycle passenger and the van driver were seriously injured.
The crash occurred at about 2:30pm on Thursday, August 13, in the Bhabarber area of the Benapole Port police station bypass road. Ibrahim was the son of Abdur Rashid of Goga village in Sharsha upazila. The injured were Ichapur Dakhil Madrasa teacher Fazlul Haque, 45, and van driver Ali Qader, 35.
Witnesses said Ibrahim was taking fellow teacher Fazlul Haque by motorcycle from Goga toward Sharsha when the motorcycle collided head-on with the van coming from the opposite direction. All three were seriously injured. Ibrahim died on the way to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex; the other two remain under treatment.
Benapole Port police station officer-in-charge Ashraf Hossain said the damaged van and motorcycle were recovered and taken to the station. Further legal action will follow if the victim’s family files a complaint.
