The chief of the Bangladesh Police Special Branch (SB) and Additional IGP, Nurul Amin, has inspected the immigration at the Benapole international checkpost.
He reached the Benapole international checkpost immigration office around 11am on Saturday (8 August). During the inspection he observed immigration operations, passenger services, security arrangements and the overall situation of passengers crossing the border.
Immigration police officers briefed the SB chief on various matters related to the checkpost’s ongoing operations and passenger services.
Accompanying him on the inspection were Jashore Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Shakhawat Hossen and Navaron Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arif Hossen.
In an exchange of views with immigration officers, Nurul Amin said the Benapole international checkpost is an important and large land gateway of the country. Immigration police must work responsibly to ensure safe and smooth passage for local and foreign passengers through it.
He stressed ending passenger harassment and ensuring fast, quality service, while giving the highest priority to national security.
The SB chief also said it was essential to make the fullest use of modern technology in immigration management and to ensure transparency and accountability in carrying out duties. He warned that no kind of irregularity or passenger harassment would be tolerated.
Various steps taken to ensure safe and smooth movement of passengers at the international checkpost were discussed. He also exchanged views with officers on making immigration operations more dynamic and passenger-friendly.
At the end of the inspection, SB chief Nurul Amin gave the immigration police officers the necessary directions.
Benapole international checkpost immigration officer-in-charge (OC) Saifur Rahman Khan, Benapole Port police station OC Ashraf Hossen and other senior immigration and police officers were present.
