A special race has been organised in the besieged Gaza Strip to turn the world’s attention to the grim reality of children who have lost their parents amid the ongoing war. Hundreds of Palestinian children took part in it.
The symbolic marathon was organised on the initiative of the human rights and relief organisation “International Networking for Humanitarian”.
The organisation said many children were being orphaned every day in the war after losing their parents or guardians. The main aim of the event was to bring the suffering and overall plight of these children — facing extreme uncertainty and a humanitarian crisis — to the world stage.
During the marathon, the children and organisers called on the local and international community to play a stronger role in protecting the orphaned children of besieged Gaza and to step up emergency humanitarian assistance.
