Students will get their 2027 textbooks before Christmas, Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon has said.
He expressed the hope in his speech as chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Primary Education Medal competition, held on Monday, June 15, at the Government Physical Education College ground in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The minister said: “I hope we will deliver the books to students before December, that is, before Christmas, this year. The books are revised, and their curriculum has changed considerably. In 2028 we will be able to come with a new curriculum and a new syllabus.”
He also said the secondary-level books had already been revised. “We are providing new books in four subjects, and the education ministry is continuing this work,” he said. Free textbooks are usually handed to primary and secondary students on January 1, the first day of the year. This time, however, they will be delivered before December 25.
The minister also said the results of the SSC and equivalent examinations would be published by July 20. He said: “You have already seen that the secondary-level SSC examination was completed smoothly. There was no question-paper leak, no cheating, and the results will be out within two months, by July 20.”
Ehsanul Haque Milon further said the government was working to close the session backlogs and gaps between the SSC, HSC and university education. “I hope that by 2028 our students, right after sitting their examinations, will move to college admission and, after finishing college, to university admission. We are synchronizing this. We will not waste time in any way through neglect of our students,” he said.
The minister added: “As we synchronize the SSC, HSC and university education, we are designing the syllabus and curriculum so that students do not sit idle, do not have to go to coaching centers unnecessarily, and can pursue creative learning.”
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and the prime minister’s education adviser Mahdi Amin were among those present at the event.
