Sergio Gor, the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs who is visiting Bangladesh, has met Prime Minister Tareque Rahman.
The meeting took place at around 9:15 am on Saturday at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, in the capital. Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Roni confirmed it.
According to diplomatic sources, the two sides exchanged views on further strengthening the existing bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and the United States, expanding mutual cooperation, and a range of contemporary regional and international issues. Economic cooperation, trade and investment, security cooperation and other matters of common interest also featured prominently in the talks.
The meeting is being regarded as one of the most significant with a high-level US representative since the government took office.
