The body of a five-year-old child has been recovered from the Dhalai river a day after the child went missing in Katabil village of Adampur union in Kamalganj upazila, Moulvibazar.
Family members recovered the body from the river with the help of locals at midday on Sunday (28 June).
Local sources said the child had been watching repair work on the village road in front of the home on Saturday (27 June) night. When mud splashed on the child’s body, the child went home, took off the T-shirt being worn and went back outside, after which the child could not be found. Family members and villagers searched various places through the night but found no trace. At midday on Sunday, locals spotted the body floating in the Dhalai river and recovered it.
Adampur Union Parishad member Jumer Ali confirmed the incident, saying he was heading to the scene on receiving the news, and that the actual cause of death would be known in detail after inspecting the site.
Kamalganj police station officer-in-charge Md Kamar Uddin said that on receiving news, police would go to the scene, take necessary legal steps and, if required, prepare an inquest report.
