When a talented young man stood facing financial uncertainty as he pursued his dream of higher education, Prime Minister Tareque Rahman stepped in to help.
Md Nazmul Hasan met the prime minister on Thursday (13 August), and a grant was provided from the prime minister to help him realise his dream of higher education. The support was not merely financial help but a reflection of faith in a young man’s dream and ability.
Nazmul Hasan is a master’s (thesis) student in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Rajshahi University and a student of the 2019-20 session. He is also the assistant human-rights secretary of the Rajshahi University Chhatra Dal.
He recently won a full scholarship for higher study at the University of Skovde in Sweden. But bearing the costs of travelling abroad, initial accommodation and other necessary expenses was difficult for his family, and at that time of crisis the prime minister’s help brought new hope to his journey.
From the son of a poor family in Khamarkandi village in Sherpur upazila of Bogura to the threshold of international higher education, Nazmul’s journey may serve as an inspiration to thousands of aspiring young people.
