A nine-year-old girl has drowned in a pond in Naldanga, Natore, police said. The accident happened at noon on Saturday (July 11) in the Kutirpara area of Naldanga municipality.
According to police and local residents, the girl accidentally fell into the pond while playing near her home. When her family could not find her at home, they began searching nearby and later saw her floating in the pond. She was quickly pulled out and taken to the Naldanga Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared her dead after examination.
Naldanga Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Nure Alam said police were present at the health complex and that the girl’s body would be handed over to her family after they were spoken to and the legal formalities were completed.
