Three government ministers inspect Teesta Barrage

Three top policymakers of the present government have inspected the area of the Teesta Barrage, one of the country’s largest and most important irrigation projects.

Water Resources Minister Md Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu and Water Resources State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad arrived at the Teesta Barrage area, between Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari, at noon on Friday (19 June). According to the official itinerary, the minister and state ministers toured the Teesta Barrage and its surrounding area at noon. They then took part in an important discussion meeting with senior officials of the Water Development Board (WDB) in the Teesta Avasar hall room. The meeting held detailed discussions on the long-standing river-erosion problem of the Teesta basin, sustainable flood control, river management and the progress of ongoing development work. Lalmonirhat-1 MP Barrister Hasan Rajib Pradhan, Lalmonirhat-2 MP Rokon Uddin Babul, and the Water Resources Ministry and the deputy commissioners and senior administration officials of Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari were also present.
