The Dhaka Education Board has issued urgent instructions on the registration of students studying in class nine in the 2026-27 academic year. Student registration will begin on 2 August and the process will continue until 30 August.
The information was confirmed in an urgent notice issued by the Dhaka Education Board’s controller of examinations office on Monday, 27 July. The notice was signed by Professor Dr Md Masud Rana Khan by order of the Dhaka board chairman.
The notice said the registration fee has been set at 196 taka a head without a late fee. Those registering after the set period with a late fee will have to pay an additional 140 taka, a total of 336 taka.
The board’s instructions said only students who have passed the class eight annual examination and obtained registration will be eligible for admission to class nine. Students must be aged between 12 and 18 to register. Students under 12 or over 18 will not be considered eligible for registration.
To make the registration process accurate, each institution has been directed to form a special three-member committee including the class teacher. The committee will be responsible for checking the information against the school’s admission form before submitting it online. Heads of institutions and committee members will be jointly responsible for any incorrect information. Under no circumstances may students be employed in the registration work.
On students’ choice of stream, the notice said the humanities, science or business studies stream will be settled with the consent of guardians and students. The stream may, however, be allocated taking into account the results of the class eight annual examination.
According to the notice, the head of the institution concerned will bear full responsibility if registration is not completed within the set period or if any complication arises. Staff of educational institutions also do not need to come to the board to pay the fee; the “eSIF” can be filled in online within 24 hours of paying the fee through Sonali Seba.
