“Sino-Bangla Day 2026,” a job fair showcasing employment opportunities at Chinese companies, was held at Dhaka University (DU) on Monday. Roughly 30 to 40 Chinese companies took part in the daylong event, offering a combined 430 job openings for students.

The event ran from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the university’s Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) grounds. The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh and Dhaka University jointly organized “Sino-Bangla Day,” with the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and the university’s Confucius Institute serving as hosts.

Interested job-seekers submitted résumés directly and online to representatives of participating companies. Students also had the opportunity to speak with representatives about the qualifications required for various positions, the nature of the work, and the hiring process.

Organizers said candidates would initially be shortlisted based on submitted résumés. Alongside Dhaka University students, students from other educational institutions across the country also took part in the job fair.

At the opening ceremony, Yan Hui, director of Dhaka University’s Confucius Institute, said: “This event will open a new chapter in relations between our two countries. China-Bangladesh relations have always been important in the sphere of economic cooperation. Chinese companies are working not only to invest in Bangladesh but also to build young people’s skills and create employment opportunities.”

The event was co-organized by the Bangladesh Chinese Enterprises Association, the Overseas Chinese Association in Bangladesh, and the Apun Friendship Exchange Centre.
