The traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 3,257 cases over the past two days in drives against traffic-law violators in the capital. In the same period 908 vehicles were dumped and 426 vehicles towed.
The cases were filed in drives conducted in various areas of the capital last Thursday and yesterday, Friday (23 and 24 July). The information was given in a DMP notice today, Saturday, July 25.
The DMP said 492 cases were filed in the traffic-Motijheel division and 450 in the traffic-Wari division. In addition, 458 cases were filed in the traffic-Gulshan division, 401 in traffic-Uttara, 670 in traffic-Mirpur, 372 in traffic-Tejgaon, 246 in traffic-Lalbagh and 168 in traffic-Ramna.
In the drives, legal action was taken against various kinds of vehicles under the different divisions, including buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorcycles. The DMP said drives of this kind by the traffic division will continue in future to ensure traffic discipline in the capital.
