DU waives tuition fees for students injured in July uprising

Dhaka University (DU) has decided to waive the tuition fees of students injured in the July uprising, the university said in a press release on Monday, July 20, signed by public-relations office director Mohammad Rafiqul Islam.

The release said the decision was taken at a syndicate meeting on June 22, based on a recommendation of the university’s finance committee. The meeting was chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam.

The university administration has also taken up a month-long program to mark the second anniversary of the July uprising. Alongside central events, the university’s residential halls, faculties, departments and institutes are holding separate programs, including memorial publications, seminars, reminiscence and discussion meetings, essay contests, personal-experience sharing, cultural events and debate competitions.

Several residential halls have announced their own programs on various dates from July 22 through August 5, including memorial publications and commemorative events, the university notice said.
