Widespread controversy has erupted over Nasima Kadir Molla High School and Homes in Narsingdi achieving a 100 percent GPA-5 result in this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination. After various media outlets published reports on the matter, it came to the attention of the education board. Amid the controversy, the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has sent the institution a show-cause notice seeking verification of the facts and an explanation.
The information was disclosed Sunday, August 16, in an office order from the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
The office order states that following the publication of this year’s SSC results, allegations were raised that Nasima Kadir Molla High School and Homes in Narsingdi employed irregular methods to achieve its 100 percent GPA-5 result. To this end, the institution has been directed to appear in person within the next seven working days with information on enrolled students, students registered in the 9th grade, students who took the SSC selection test, and students who filled out SSC exam forms, along with necessary documentation, to explain the reasons for the allegations raised.
According to this urgent directive, failure to respond within the specified time may result in further action being taken in accordance with regulations.
