CHOUGACHHA, Jashore — Police arrested a 55-year-old man on Wednesday morning and recovered 40 bottles of Indian Winserex syrup, an intoxicant, hidden inside a jackfruit, officers said.
Abdur Razzak, son of the late Omar Ali Khan of Singhjhuli village in the upazila, was detained in front of Chougachha filling station near Chougachha Government College.
Acting on a tip, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Imran Hossain Raju was watching the filling station when Razzak passed through carrying the drugs toward Jashore. The bottles had been wrapped in polythene and concealed inside the rind of a jackfruit. Officers stopped him, recovered the 40 bottles and arrested him, police said.
Chougachha police station chief Mamunur Rashid said a case had been filed against Razzak under the narcotics control law and he had been sent to court.
