Elderly man beaten to death in Chuadanga land dispute

An elderly man named Palan Uddin was killed in an attack by rival parties following a land dispute in Alamdanga, Chuadanga. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. Thursday (July 9) in Gobindapur Tamaltala village in the upazila.

The deceased, Palan Uddin, 80, was the son of the late Chayraddin of the same village.

According to local and police sources, a long-running dispute over land had persisted between Palan’s family and the other party.

On Thursday morning, people from the opposing side attacked him over the disputed land. He was seriously injured in the assault.

Locals later rescued him, bleeding and severely injured, and took him to Alamdanga Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician declared him dead.

Alamdanga police station OC Bani Israil said police recovered the body from the hospital after being informed of the incident.

The body has been sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Preparations for filing a case are under way, and police have launched an operation to detain those involved in the incident.
